Wealthy Affiliate review: mixed evidence
Wealthy Affiliate is a long-running affiliate-marketing training and website-hosting membership from Victoria, Canada. In 2026 its pricing page describes AI “credits” for writing articles, alongside hosting and community. We read the pricing page, Trustpilot, BBB’s directory, two Reddit threads and two YouTube reviews with transcripts and comments.

Our verdict (editorial opinion)
Mixed evidence. Trustpilot and BBB look healthy and some members have stayed for a decade, but first-hand earnings reports are small and refunds are narrow. A six-year member and affiliate says he earned about $10,000 in total and that the model “is not viable as it used to be”. A September 2026 Trustpilot reviewer says an agreed refund had not arrived.

- BBB: listed with “BBB Rating: A+” at a Victoria, BC address; the search result does not show accreditation.

What members and reviewers report
About the allegations on this page. Statements from Reddit, Trustpilot or YouTube users are their own opinions or accounts. We quote or summarise them with a link and date; we have not verified them, and we do not present them as fact.
- Trustpilot, Sep 2026: a reviewer says they were charged for a renewal, were offered a $467 refund (after a $30 deduction), and were told in writing the “$467 goes back with no argument and no follow-up”, but say it had not been processed when they wrote. We have not seen the company’s side of this case.
- Trustpilot, Mar 2026: one review calls it “Absolutely a dumpster fire of a platform”. A May 2026 review from a member since 2014 praises it but warns “this is not a shortcut”.
- r/Affiliatemarketing, Sep 2019: a thread titled “I wasted $19 and 40+ hours on Wealthy Affiliate so you don’t have to...”. A commenter in it says “a lot of the training is just bad or extremely outdated”; another, a member of about four years, describes traffic with “absolutely no conversions”.
- r/WorkOnline, 2015: a former member liked “the large and active community for support and motivation” but said most of the material “can be found elswhere online”.
- YouTube, Mike’s Online Biz Insights, 2025: a member since 2017 says his “total income was something about $10,000” since 2019, with $181 so far that year, and that the model “is not viable as it used to be” after AI and Google updates; he also says “Wealthy Affiliate is not a scam”. Not independent: he earns by promoting Wealthy Affiliate.
- YouTube, Rachel, Jun 2025: a short critical review; not independent, as it promotes a different program.
Not enough third-party information to reach a full verdict
We looked for independent evidence and did not find enough to judge whether this product does what it says. Most of what is published about it comes from the vendor or from affiliates who earn a commission if you buy. Here is exactly what we checked and what was missing.
What we checked
- Seller pricing page and refund FAQ
- Trustpilot profile (647 reviews)
- BBB directory listing
- FTC site search (no case found)
- Reddit threads d09cp5 (24 comments) and 3crg5a (8)
- Two YouTube reviews: transcripts and comments
What was missing
- Independent outcome data on member earnings
- Recent independent first-hand reviews of the 2026 AI-credit version
Claims that need corroboration before a fair verdict is possible
- Members’ income figures
- The September 2026 refund account
- Seller claims about article output per tier
If you have bought this product, we would like to hear what you received, what you paid in total and whether a refund was honoured. Contact us. We will update this page when better evidence exists.
The seller’s side
Wealthy Affiliate offers a free tier with no credit card, lets members cancel from Billing, and says on its pricing page that it “makes no promises about what you'll earn”. On Trustpilot, co-founder Kyle replied in May 2026 to a critical review saying the platform has run for over 20 years. Long-term members on Trustpilot credit it with steady progress. We will publish any further response.
Our verdict
Mixed evidence. It is a real, long-running membership with a free tier and a good BBB rating, and the price is published. But first-hand income reports are modest, critics call parts of the training outdated, and refunds are limited to account or billing problems. Start on the free tier and judge the 2026 AI tools yourself before paying.
What we like
- Free tier with no card
- Published prices; cancel any time
- BBB A+ and Trustpilot 4.2
- Long-running community
What to watch out for
- Refunds only for account or billing problems
- Modest earnings even from a long-term promoter
- Critics say training is outdated
- Many positive reviews come from affiliates
