Quality control
Coursera's content comes from vetted partners, so the floor is higher. Udemy's open marketplace means the best courses are excellent but you must vet them — use the checklist in our Udemy review.
Cost
A single Udemy course bought on sale is usually the cheapest way to learn one thing. Coursera can be cheaper per certificate if you use Coursera Plus heavily — see Is Coursera Plus worth it?
Prices, trials and discounts change often and vary by country. We deliberately don't print exact prices here — check current pricing on the official site before you buy.
Our recommendation
- Pick Coursera if you want a structured path and a credential with a known name on it.
- Pick Udemy if you know exactly which skill you need and want to start today.
- Use both: many learners do a Coursera certificate and fill gaps with targeted Udemy courses.
