How much does MasterClass cost in 2026? Plans, prices and refund rules
MasterClass is sold only as an annual membership. The checkout we loaded on 3 November 2026 showed three plans, Standard, Plus and Pro, priced per month but billed once a year. Here is what each costs, what changes between them, and the refund and renewal rules that matter as much as the price.

The short answer
MasterClass costs about $10 a month for Standard, billed as roughly $120 a year up front. Higher plans add devices, offline downloads and, since October 2026, MasterClass Certificates. Their prices vary between checkout versions. There is no monthly plan. New members get a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Renewals are not refundable and renew automatically.
Why the prices below differ: MasterClass is testing its plans. A third-party tracker saw different plan line-ups on the same day in October 2026, and our own 3 November read came from a non-US connection that showed local prices. We show each figure with its source and date. Check MasterClass's plans page before you pay.

The older line-up you may still see: until mid-October 2026, MasterClass's US checkout listed Standard $120, Plus $180 and Premium $240 a year ($10, $15 and $20 a month, billed annually), with no certificates. Our MasterClass review recorded those prices on 31 October from trackers. The independent site Onlinecourseing reported on 21 October 2026 that the checkout varied by session: some showed Plus at $15 and Pro at $70, one showed Plus at $30 with one Certificate, and an earlier read that day showed Premium as well (Onlinecourseing pricing guide, third-party, unverified by us). MasterClass's own help center still describes plans called “Plus” and “Premium” (About MasterClass Membership Plans, read 3 Nov 2026), so expect the names to keep shifting.
What changes between plans
- Classes: every plan includes the full library. The plans page FAQ says membership “includes access to an incredible catalog of 200+ classes” and that each class has “around 20 video lessons that are 10 minutes long on average”. Audio-only mode is included, though “Audio mode is not available for all classes.”
- Devices: 1, 2 or 6 screens at once. The help center describes the higher tiers as “Plus: stream on up to 2 devices simultaneously” and “Premium: stream on up to 6 devices at the same time”.
- Profiles: on the higher plans “you can add up to 5 additional profiles to your account (6 in total)” (help center).
- Offline downloads: not on Standard. The plans page FAQ notes offline lessons are for “select classes”.
- MasterClass Certificates: “Self-paced courses for professionals who want in-depth learning and proof upon completion.” On our 3 Nov read, Plus included 1 and Pro included all. They are not accredited degrees. Bought separately, Onlinecourseing reported $250–$400 per course and an $800-a-year Annual Pass on 21 Oct 2026 (third-party). We did not verify those prices.
- Tax: “Depending on where you live, you may be charged taxes in addition to your annual membership price” (plans page FAQ).
Which plan makes sense?

Is there a free trial?
Not on the standard sign-up. The plans page offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee instead. The exception is a Guest Pass that an existing member sends you. MasterClass says it “grants recipients a 14-day free trial with full access to the MasterClass library and features”. You enter a card, and “If no cancellation is made, the subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged at the end of the trial” (Guest Pass help article, read 3 Nov 2026).
Refunds, auto-renewal and cancelling
- 30-day guarantee: “we will honor a full refund within the first 30 days of your initial subscription purchase. This guarantee is available only for first-time purchases made directly on the MasterClass website. It does not cover renewals, redeemed gifts, or MasterClass At Work accounts.” (help center). You request it by logging in and chatting with Support. Approved refunds take “5-10 business days” (Requesting a Refund).
- Auto-renewal: “MasterClass annual membership is an auto-renewing subscription.” A reminder “is sent 30 days before your renewal date” (help center).
- Renewals: “Renewal charges are not eligible for refunds.” Partial years aren't refunded either: “there aren’t refunds for partially unused membership periods” (plans page FAQ).
- How to cancel: on the web only. “Cancellations cannot be made through the MasterClass app.” Log in at masterclass.com → Settings → Membership → Cancel Membership → Cancel Now. Access continues until the renewal date (Cancelling Your Subscription Renewal).
- App-store purchases: if you paid through Apple, Google Play, Amazon or Roku, that store handles cancellations and refunds under its own rules.
- Gifts: a gift lasts one year from redemption and then “functions exactly like any other annual MasterClass membership, including auto-renewal”. Unredeemed gifts bought in the last 30 days may be refundable; “Redeemed gifts are not eligible for refunds” (MasterClass Gifts).
Our advice: turn off auto-renewal the day you join. You keep the full year and can decide later at the then-current price.
Gift and team plans
Gift memberships are prepaid annual plans bought from MasterClass's gifting page. You choose the plan, and MasterClass says it does not sell gifts for individual classes. For organisations, MasterClass mentions a separate “MasterClass At Work” product in its refund rules. We did not find public team pricing on the pages we read, so ask MasterClass for a quote.
Is MasterClass worth the money?
From the evidence in our MasterClass review (YouTube reviews by long-term members and Trustpilot, read 31 Oct 2026), the pattern is consistent:

- Long-term YouTube reviewers praise the instructors, cinematic production, workbooks and audio-only mode, and call it good value if you watch regularly
- At about $10 a month, one class a month costs roughly what a streaming service does
- The same library on every plan, so Standard is enough for most single users
What to watch out for
- Reviewers describe it as more inspiration than step-by-step instruction, with no graded work or instructor feedback
- Trustpilot showed 1.6/5 from 1,184 reviews on 31 Oct 2026, mostly about billing and renewals rather than classes
- Several reviewers say people pay for a year and rarely watch; one decided not to renew once he'd seen what interested him
Worth it for: curious learners who will schedule viewing time, fans of particular instructors, and writers, cooks and entrepreneurs who want perspective from top practitioners. Skip it if you need a recognised credential, hands-on feedback or month-to-month billing, or if you won't watch at least one class a month.

How much does MasterClass cost?
About $10 a month for Standard, billed annually (about $120 a year in the US). On 3 Nov 2026 the checkout's higher tiers were Plus (about $30 a month, billed annually, with one Certificate) and Pro (about $70 a month, billed annually, with all Certificates). Tax may be added and plans vary by session and country.
How much is a MasterClass subscription per year?
Standard is about $120 a year. On the 3 Nov 2026 checkout, Plus was about $360 and Pro about $840 a year in the US (our arithmetic from the monthly prices). The older Plus and Premium plans were $180 and $240.
Does MasterClass have a monthly subscription?
No. Every plan is shown as a monthly price but “billed annually”, and the checkout heading reads “Choose an annual membership”.
Is there a MasterClass free trial?
Not on the normal sign-up. You get a 30-day satisfaction guarantee instead. A Guest Pass from an existing member gives a 14-day free trial that turns into a paid membership unless you cancel.
How do I cancel my MasterClass subscription?
Log in at masterclass.com in a browser (not the app), open Settings → Membership → Cancel Membership → Cancel Now. Your access lasts until the renewal date. App-store purchases are cancelled in that store.
Can I cancel MasterClass and get a refund?
Only within 30 days of a first-time purchase made on the MasterClass website. Renewals, redeemed gifts and partially used periods are not refunded.
Is a MasterClass subscription worth it?
Yes if you'll watch regularly and want inspiration from famous practitioners. No if you need credentials, feedback or monthly billing.
Are MasterClass Certificates included?
Only on the higher plans in the current checkout: Plus included 1 and Pro included all on 3 Nov 2026. Standard includes none.
